Evening Restorative Practice

This yoga class is a gentle, accessible practice designed to build nervous system resilience by tapping into the breath, repetitive movements, and mindful awareness. The use of mantras and mudra (hand gestures) may also be incorporated to enhance your practice.

Resources recommended for this class include: Mat, Blanket (1 -2), Blocks, Bolster (or large firm pillow), Strap

Muscle Movement

Start your day with 3o minutes of live Zoom muscle movement. Let the class be the strong start to your day -- without the trip to the gym. Each class session is designed to gently wake up, warm up and cool down your body.

We begin a centering intention to set the tone for the practice. Followed by:

1. Movement to wake up & warm up your body

2. A muscle movement practice

3. Finishing with a few moments of gratitude to make a complete, well-rounded movement class and to set the tone for your day

Resources recommended: stationary chair (folding chair is great; no wheels for safety) yoga mat, light hand weights (2 lb., 3 lb., 5 lb. your choice) or toning balls, hand towel. Non-skid shoes may be worn.

Location: Your comfy home + Zoom = THE perfect setup

Ability Level: All levels are welcome. Your video can be on or off—totally your call.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR ~ JOSIE

Josie Hansen is a Registered Nurse, certified yoga teacher, medical massage therapist, energy practitioner and a women's health advocate with 30+ years of experience in the healthcare, wellness and fitness industry. Over her multi-decades of work she has witnessed the devastating effects of stress, trauma, grief, and lifestyle choices. As witness to these experiences, they motivated Josie to delve deeper into the power of daily movement practices, strength-building, nutrition, mindfulness, and self-care.

Now, in this stage of life, she has become dedicated to helping women 50+ to navigate life and health with more confidence, strength, grace and knowledge. 

Now it is time for you to benefit from what I have learned on this path.

Start your day with 30 minutes of live Zoom morning yoga movement. Let it be a dose of positivity, gentle movement and mindfulness to start your day! Classes will be chair and standing pose based.

We begin with a centering intention to set the tone for the practice. Followed by:

1. Movement to wake up & warm up your body

2. A movement practice

3. Finishing with a centering meditation to set the tone for your day

Resources recommended: stationary chair (no wheels), optional -- yoga mat, blocks, blanket, bolster (or thick, sturdy pillow or cushion), strap

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN A CLASS?

Sessions may include simple, accessible, and therapeutic yoga postures or forms, breathing practices, and mediation techniques. The session may also include visualizations, deep relaxation and suggestions for home practice.

A common misconception is that all yoga is about maximizing flexibility--it is not. Mindful Yoga is about getting to know yourself better and using various practices to help you improve your health and well-being.

Slow Mindful Yoga Movement incorporates six key processes: mindful movement, breathing practices, meditation, awareness of values/ethical engagement, spiritual development and service.

Local Hikes - Gig Harbor

Welcome to Local Hikes ~ Gig Harbor. These hikes are the best way to start your third Saturday of the month! The hikes and walks are great for beginners and beyond. Each month will be at a different location. Registration is not necessary, however it is very helpful.

The guidelines are: Be kind. Play nice. Let's keep track of everyone.

About Josie Hansen, RN, Yoga Teacher, Certified Health Coach:

I am a registered nurse,  an online and in-person yoga teacher, health coach and women’ health advocate. I guide women over 50 to improve their health with expert support in movement, nutrition, stress and grief related concerns. I went from working as an RN in various health care settings to teaching health content for the last 13 years. With a 35 year background in the health care and spa industry I bring a broad base of experience to educate and help women feel less stress, manage anxiety, decrease pain and suffering that is often associated with disrupted sleep, digestive and personal losses.
